Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about eSIM data plans

1

Where can I see my data usage?

You can check your data usage on your order page (the one with the QR code). The page displays your current usage, total data available, and last update time. Usage data updates every 2-3 hours.

2

Can I top up my existing eSIM?

Yes! You can top up your existing eSIM directly from your order page. Just click the "Refill" button and select a plan - the data will be added to your current eSIM without needing a new QR code. Your new data accumulates with any remaining data.

3

Will I receive notifications when my data runs out?

Yes! You can enable push notifications on your order page. We'll alert you when your data is running low or when your eSIM is about to expire, so you have time to top up.

4

Do I have a login or account page with all my orders?

You guessed it: we're working on implementing a customer account portal too. For now, you can find all your order details and eSIM information in the confirmation emails we've sent you. Each email contains a unique link to your order page.

5

Do you have chat support?

Not yet. For now, support is available via email at hello@esim.dog. We typically respond within 24h, and often within a few hours during business hours.

6

How do I enable personal hotspot with my eSIM?

To enable personal hotspot with your eSIM:

iPhone: Settings → Personal Hotspot → toggle on "Allow Others to Join"

Android: Settings → Connections → Mobile Hotspot and Tethering → toggle on "Mobile Hotspot"

Make sure your eSIM is selected as the data source, and check the selected plan card because hotspot availability varies by route.

7

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, we offer refunds for unused eSIMs within 30 days of purchase. If you haven't activated your eSIM yet, please contact us at hello@esim.dog with your order details. Once an eSIM is activated, refunds are not guaranteed as the service has been rendered. Please see our Terms of Service for complete details.

8

How long does eSIM activation take?

Your eSIM is typically ready within 30 seconds after purchase. Once you receive your QR code, installation takes about 30 more seconds. The eSIM connects to the network immediately after installation - just make sure data roaming is enabled!

9

When does my eSIM validity period start?

Your eSIM validity starts only when you activate it, not when you purchase it. This means you can buy your eSIM in advance and activate it when you arrive at your destination without losing any days.

10

Can I use my eSIM in multiple countries?

This depends on your plan. Regional plans (like "Europe eSIM" or "Asia eSIM") work across multiple countries in that region - check our regional pages for available options. Single-country plans only work in the specified country. Check your plan details on your success page to see the coverage area.

11

What happens when my data runs out?

When your fixed-GB plan is fully used, your eSIM will stop providing internet access. You can easily top up your existing eSIM from your order page, or purchase a new eSIM plan - both take about 30 seconds.

12

Can I transfer my eSIM or share it with someone else?

No, eSIMs are tied to a specific device and cannot be transferred once installed. Each eSIM can only be installed on one device. If you need connectivity for multiple devices, you'll need to purchase separate eSIM plans for each device.

13

How do I delete or remove an eSIM from my device?

iPhone: Settings → Cellular → tap your eSIM → Remove Cellular Plan

Android: Settings → Connections → SIM Card Manager → select eSIM → Remove

⚠️ Warning: Once removed, the same eSIM cannot be reinstalled.

14

Which devices are compatible with eSIM?

eSIM works on:

  • • iPhone XS, XR, and all newer models
  • • Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer
  • • Google Pixel 3 and newer
  • • Most recent flagship Android devices

Quick check: Dial *#06# on your phone. If you see an EID number, your device supports eSIM.

15

Can I have multiple eSIMs on one phone?

Yes! Most modern phones support multiple eSIMs. For example, iPhone XS to iPhone 13 can store up to 8 eSIMs (2 active at once), iPhone 14+ can store 8+ eSIMs. You can switch between them in Settings → Cellular. Samsung and Pixel devices also support multiple eSIMs.

16

What's the difference between eSIM and physical SIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM card embedded in your device - no physical card needed. Benefits: instant activation (no waiting for shipping), easy to switch plans, environmentally friendly, and you can keep your physical SIM slot for your home carrier.

17

What speeds can I expect?

You'll get the same speeds as local carriers - typically 4G LTE or 5G depending on your plan and location. Speeds depend on local network quality and coverage in your area. Unlimited plans may have daily high-speed data limits after which speeds are throttled.
